Agrochemical output in the Chinese province of Zhejiang dropped by 1% in the first six months of 2014, reaching a half-yearly total of 130,228 tonnes, reports the China Crop Protection Industry Association. Zhejiang was the third-largest pesticide producing region in China in the first half of the year, behind Shandong and Jiangsu provinces {Agrow No 693, p 25), and is home to some of China's largest agrochemical companies, including Zhejiang Wynca Chemical. The province mainly manufactured herbicides, for which six-month production decreased by 2% to some 103,882 tonnes. Insecticide production saw the strongest growth, up 13% to 17,057 tonnes, with fungicide output slipping 1% to 7,073 tonnes. Plant growth regulator (PGR) output saw slight improvement, up 1% to 1,478 tonnes during the period.
