A federal judge has denied the US EPA’s request to clarify an order that rejected the Agency’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit challenging its regulation of seeds treated with neonicotinoid insecticides. US District Court Judge William Alsup said that the EPA raised a “fair point” in its motion for clarification but concluded that there was no need to resolve the issue until he considers motions for summary judgement. The concern centres on the Judge’s May 13th order denying the EPA’s bid to dismiss the litigation, which was brought in January by a coalition of beekeepers, environmentalists and farmers. The complaint states four counts against the EPA, alleging that the Agency’s policy is contributing to bee declines and harming the environment.
