Already the biggest owner of Russian power assets, Gazprom is mulling long-term plans to expand into the West European power sector, apparently with the aim of increasing gas sales. The Russian gas giant is interested in participating in "any energy projects" in the EU, including power plants, Denis Fyodor-ov, head of energy arm Gazpromenergo-holding, said last week. He said the Gazprom board asked him in late 2010 to draw up a list of potential schemes by the end of this year, but did not identify particular projects or countries.
