Encana, Canada's largest natural gas producer, is taking a 30% equity stake in the proposed Kitimat LNG complex in British Columbia. It has also agreed to use 30% of the capacity of the 700 million cubic feet per day (5 million tons/year) export facility that will target the Asia-Pacific region. Ownership of the Kitimat LNG venture is currently split between operator Apache (51%) and EOG Resources (49%). Once En-cana is brought on board, Apache will own 40% and remain the operator, while EOG will own 30%.
