Russia's state-run Rosneft said Friday that it has launched activity in the eastern Arctic, where the country's top crude producer is partnering with US supermajor Exxon Mobil. Rosneft said it has started aerial gravitymagnetic surveys at the Yuzhno Chukotsky license area that should help establish the field's subsurface structure. By the end of the year, the company also plans to conduct similar surveys at the Ust-Lensky, Ust- Oleneksky, Anisinsko-Novosibirsky and Severo-Vrangelevsky 1 and 2 areas in the Chukchi and the Laptev Seas.
