Russian gas giant Gazprom has cut its production forecast for 2015 amid lower demand at home and in Europe and as competition mounts from other Russian gas producers. The state-controlled company now sees 2015 gas output at 444.6 billion cubic meters, down from an earlier forecast of 450 Bcm but still up slightly from the 443.9 Bcm it produced last year. Lower gas demand in Russia and Europe, Gazprom's main export market, as well as fresh competition from other gas producers -- notably top independent gas firm Novatek -- are the reasons behind the reduced forecast.
