Russia's Gazprom cheered investors on Friday by reporting a more than 20% jump in profits for the first nine months of 2015 despite third-quarter foreign exchange losses on the back of the devaluation of the ruble. It also exceeded expectations in terms of cash generation. But the state-controlled gas giant decided against holding a conference call to discuss its earnings. The only explanation analysts could offer for this was that the company may see no point in talking to shareholders now, as they will have the chance to ask questions at a couple of investor days beginning in two weeks.
