India’s cabinet has given the go ahead for state- owned GAIL to sign a gas purchase agreement with Turkmenistan for supplies from a planned international pipeline. The proposed 1,700km Turkmenistan- Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline (TAPI) will have a capacity of 3.18 Bcf/d (90 MMcm/d) of gas for a 30-year period and will be operational in 2018.
