Houston-M&G Group said it has purchased the land, and is moving ahead with plans to invest in a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and purified terephthalic acid (PTA) project in Corpus Christi, Texas (PCN, 18 July 2011, p 1). The project, identified as "M&G's largest-ever investment," includes a 1-million-t/y PET plant and a 1.2-million-t/y PTA plant. Construction on both facilities is expected to last about 30 months. "The final selection and the purchase of the land is an important step as it will allow us to complete detailed engineering and permit filing," noted Mauro Fenoglio, project leader.
