Sines-La Seda de Barcelona (LSB), through its investee Artlant PTA (previously Artenius Sines), has started commissioning its new 700,000-t/y purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Sines, Portugal (PCN, 1 Feb 2010, p 2). Over the next three months, LSB said it will test the state of the art technology of all installed equipment, with the goal of starting PTA production in the fourth quarter of this year. The plant required an investment of more than ?500-million.
