Singapore— ExxonMobil Chemical announced plans to build halobutyl rubber and Escorez hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin plants at its recently expanded Jurong Island, Singapore, petrochemical complex (PCN, 13 Jan 2014, p 1). The company has alreadystarted engineering and procurement activities for the 140,000-t/y halobutyl rubber plant and the 90,000-t/y hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin unit, which will be the "world's largest." Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2014, with completion anticipated in 2017.
