Houston— Westlake Chemical Co. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producer Vinnolit Holdings GmbH and its subsidiary companies from private equity firm Advent International for ?490-million. Vinnolit has six production facilities located in Gendorf, Burghausen, Cologne, Knapsack and Schkopau, Germany, and Hillhouse, UK. The plants have a combined 780,000 t/y of PVC capacity, including specialty paste and suspension grades; 665,000 t/y of vinyl chloride monomer capacity, and 475,000 t/y of membrane grade caustic soda capacity. The acquisition also includes a research and development facility in Gendorf and an applications laboratory in Burghausen.
