About 230 million spindle equivalents produce daily yarn for 7 billion humans the world over. It is a fact that 300 million spindles are installed worldwide, of which around 75 per cent are permanently being used. Today, 2 per cent of yarns are produced with air-jet systems, 8 per cent with compact, 14 per cent with rotor and 76 per cent with ring spinning systems.
