A field experiment was conducted during the rainy seasons of 2006 and 2007 to study the effect of nitrogen levels and plant geometry on growth and yield of hybrid rice (Oryza sativa L.). Application of 200 kg N/ha significantly increased all the growth characters viz., dry matter accumulation, leaf area index, crop growth rate, relative growth rate, net assimilation rate and yield attributes. Application of 200 kg N/ha recorded significantly higher (7.72 t/ha) grain yield over 0, 50, 100 and 150 kg N/ha but at par with 150 kg N/ha in case of straw yield. Closer plant geometry of 15x10 cm proved to be superior to wider plant geometry (20x15, 15x15 and 20x10 cm) in respect of growth characters, yields, while wider plant spacing (20x15 cm) recorded higher root volume and dry weight during both the years.
