China's Ministry of Environmental Protection ordered Xinjiang Wuxin Copper to stop construction of its 100kt/y copper smelting and refining project on 13th January. According to the announcement, the project is not approved for the following reasons. First, the size and distribution strategy of the Xinjiang Wuxin Copper project, which is located in the Xinjiang Fukang heavy chemical industrial park, does not comply with the broader development plan of the industrial park, and will need to be modified.
