摘要

The Public-private partnership (PPP) in cotton growing in Vidarbha (Maharashtra) proved to be cost-effective and helped in sharing of knowledge and information. Thejoint effort resulted in reduction in the cultivation cost, increase in the yield of seed cotton and net profit tofarmers during 2003-07 crop seasons. The PPP model was a vital instrument for improving soil health pest and disease management, and marketing through cooperative network. This concept has to be extended to other cotton zones so as to get benefits to all stakeholders, and particularly the producer and purchaser.
