Bioefficacy of Promising Insecticides Against Sucking Pests in Bt Cotton

A field experiment was conducted at experimental Farm of Department of Entomology, Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani (M.S.), India during Kharif 7010, to study the bioefficacy of promising insecticides against sucking pests in Bt cotton andits effects on seed cotton yield. The experimental findings showed that clothianidin 50 WDG @ 250 g / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP 500 g / ha was most effective in reducing aphid, jassid and whitefly population on 3rd, 7lh and 14,h day after 1st and2nd spraying. However it was on par with acetamiprid 20 SP @ 100 g / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP @ 500 g / ha and thiamethoxam 25 WG @ 250 g / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP @ 500g / ha. Where as the treatment fipronil 5 % SC @ 1000 ml / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP @ 500g / ha was found most superior in reducing thrips population on 3rd, 7th and 14lh day after lsl and 2nd spraying and it was on par with acetamiprid 20 SP @ 100 g / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP @ 500 g / ha and clothianidin 50 WDG @ 250 g / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP @ 500 g / ha. The maximum seed cotton yield was recorded in clothianidin 50 WDG @ 250 g / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP @ 500g / ha (2560 kg / ha) followed by acetamiprid 20 SP @ 100 g / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP @ 500 g / ha (2500 kg / ha), thiamethoxam 25 % WG @ 250 g / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP @ 500 g / ha (2472 kg / ha) and fipronil 5 % SC @ 1000 ml / ha alternate with acephate 75 SP @ 500 g / ha (2428 kg / ha). Our results suggest that clothianidin and acetamiprid are good substitutes for conventional insecticides in vogue, which could be used in formulating a successful management strategy for sucking pests in Bt cotton.
