Field experiments were conducted to determine the effect of plant density on the incidence of cotton leafhopper nymphs and seed cotton yield under protected and unprotected conditions during kharif 2012 at RARS farm, Lam, Guntur. The plant density of66, 666 plants ha~(-1) (100 cm xl5 cm) recorded higher mean leafhopper population of 5.43 and 6.13 leafhoppers per three leaves under protected and unprotected conditions respectively. The seed cotton yield increased as the plant density increased from 11, 111 plants ha~(-1)to 66, 666 plants ha~(-1) both under protected and unprotected conditions.
