The Korean won-U.S. dollar exchange rate dipped below 1,100 won on October 25 and has not risen above that value since. It is anticipated that local exporting companies in such major industries as electric home appliances, petrochemicals and semiconductors will get hurt hard, as the exchange rate has already fallen below the minimum level needed to secure profits on the export front.
