Directly and indirectly oxidized nanostructured Y_2O_3:Eu~(3+) and Li~+ co-activated Y_2O_3:Eu~(3+) thin film phos-phors were deposited on fused amorphous quartz substrates using pulsed laser deposition technique. The structural characterization of these films was done using X-ray diffraction. The optical and luminescent properties of the films were investigated using UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy respectively. The radiative properties like transition probability, branching ratio and radiative life time are calculated using Judd-Ofelt theory. Lithium incorporation and indirect oxidation mechanism is found to result in forma-tion of films with higher oscillator strengths. Chromaticity values of the films grown under different conditions measured using CIE chromaticity diagram are also discussed.
