To minimise energy consumption in sintering, more understanding in the following areas is required: 1. enhancing the oxidation of magnetites to enable higher utilisation levels, 2. optimising coke size distribution and practical methods to minimise generating fines during crushing, 3. optimising melt volume and melt properties using different ore types in a blend, and 4. controlling flame front properties.
