Tokyo Gas and Centrica have signed a nonbinding agreement with US firm Anadarko to take LNG from the long-anticipated Mozambique LNG project. Under the agreement, the Japanese and UK firms will buy 2.6 million tons of LNG per year from the start of operations at the 12.88 million ton/yr facility in East Africa up until the early 2040s. The deal takes the Anadarko-led scheme a step closer to its 8.5 million ton target for binding commitments in order to take a final investment decision, with commitments now at 7.7 million tons.
