Energy-intensive industries (EIIs) such as steelmaking and thechemicals sector will be given a rebate “from a proportion of costs ofthe Contracts For Difference [CFD] scheme”, the UK government saidon Tuesday March 28.The UK government-run CFD scheme is designed to encourageinvestment in low-carbon energy generation. The exemption fromthe costs could save steel companies around ￡100 million ($125.52million) per year in energy costs, the government added.
