The trucking industry in the United States is set to implement a seriesof new regulations aimed at preventing excess driving and limitinggreenhouse gas emissions, leading metals participants to predicthigher logistical and transportation costs for domestic metalspremiums.Starting in mid-December truck drivers will be required to reporttheir hours under the new electronic logging device (ELD) trackers,which aim to limit drivers to 60-70 hours on duty over the course ofseven or eight consecutive days. The devices connect to the truck’sengine and provide accurate information in the event of an accidentor roadside inspection.
