The Italian trade union federations are calling on the government to find a speedy solution for Aferpi (the former Lucchini Piombino steelworks) and in particular to start to research a new owner and to restart production, Platts learned from a union official note. "As unions we do not tolerate any more this situation… we ask the government to bypass Cevital and to accelerate the search for a new buyer, and to put the former Lucchini in a situation to produce again", the note seen by Platts demanded.
