Houston-Evonik announced it is buying the Porocel Group for $210-million in order to accelerate the growth of its catalysts business. Based in Houston, Texas, Porocel will give Evonik access to "highly-efficient" rejuvenation of desulfurization catalysts, Evonik noted. In addition, Porocel has available production capacity technology, enabling Evonik to speed up expansion of its existing business with fixed-bed catalysts.
