Brussels—The European Commission (EC) has cleared the proposed acquisition of sole control of BP's chemicals business by the Ineos Group, both of the UK, for a total consideration of $5-billion (PCN, 6 July 2020, p 1). The sale, mainly consisting of BP's aromatics and acetyls businesses, includes assets, technology and licenses, as well as related assets. The transaction is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
