New York—US secondary aluminum alloy demand was dull Monday, as most second- ary smelters took advantage of the typically quiet holiday week with planned mainte- nance shutdowns. Many diecasters also take a break during the week before New Year’s Day. Despite this, a handful of stronger deals were reported. The Platts assessment for A380 held Monday at 63-64 cents/lb, unchanged from December 23.
