London—Thermal coal prices rose on Wednesday as a bullish European energy complex and continued strength in the South African export market supported the Atlantic Basin, while outlook —particularly in Europe — remained unchanged and overwhelmingly bearish. Physical prices in Europe rose on the back of some firmer bids, although no spot deals were reported. S&P Global Platts CIF ARA 6,000 kcal/kg NAR physical price was assessed at $49.80/mt, up $2.25 on the day and the highest price in over two weeks.
