Two landmark decisions of the European Court of Justice related to cross-border patent infringementcases are examined here. One case highlights issues related to jurisdiction of national courts of oneEuropean Union (EU) state in deciding the validity of a patent granted by another EU state, andthe second case deals with issues when there are multiple defendants in a patent infringement suitwhere the defendants belong to different countries of the European Union.
