Japan’s Tokyo-based Kanto Tetsugen Cooperative Association, organized by the ferrous scrap business operators in the Kanto area, (Chairman: Mr. Yuhei Yamashita, President of Kabushikigaisha Yamashita) held sales tender on July 9 to export locally available ferrous scrap from the Kanto area for July contracts (the date of shiploading deadline is August 31) and sold winning bidders of H2 at Y 23,574/ton FAS (the same applies hereinafter), down by Y 2,786 from a month ago. Winning prices declined for the first time in 3 months, but it exceeded the FAS Tokyo Bay price as of the tender date and the delivery price in the Kanto area by around Y 1,500-2,000. Accordingly, the outcome of the tender will not become a factor for a downward pressure, but instead, it might lead to a factor for bottoming out and reversing a trend.
