摘要

The detection and specification of the respective alloantibody are indispensable for a diagnosis of alloimmune thrombocytopenia, like neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia or in patients with platelet (PLT) transfusion refractoriness. The detection of autoantibodies, on the other hand, assists in the diagnosis of autoimmune thrombocytopenia. Allo- and autoantibodies may target a variety of different PLT glyco-proteins (GPs). However, testing for a broad battery of PLT GPs as antibody targets increases the work burden in the laboratory. Thus, the number of antibody targets may be restricted to only the more common ones, particularly if autoimmune thrombocytopenia is suspected. In these cases, the detection of various antibody classes may further enhance the diagnostic value of a laboratory test for autoimmune thrombocytopenia.
