The New Zealand refiner reported a net profit of $29.6MM last year,down 62% from 2017's net profit due to a lengthy planned shutdown of its Marsden Point refinery.Refining NZ said Marsden Point was shut for planned mafntenance from April through June,which was a longer period than expected,and the longest planned shutdown at the plant in 14 years.CEO Mike Fuge said that this shutdown was partly offset in H2 by healthy refining margins,a weakening exchange rate,and a strong operational performance,with the underlying business remaining strong.”While the(net profit)result was impacted by the planned maintenance shutdown in April-June,the reliable running on processing units for the remainder of the year saw refinery throughput for the second half of 2018 at its highest ever,which allowed the company to capitalize on healthy refining margins.”
