摘要

AbstractThe application of NaBH4hydrolysis to hydrogen generation is currently obstructed by its regeneration. Finding a simple and low cost method to regenerate its hydrolysis byproduct is therefore important. Herein, the regeneration of NaBH4is obtained by reacting its direct hydrolysis byproduct, NaBO2·2H2O, with a mixture of Mg and Mg2Si by ball milling. In this reaction, the reduced agents are only metal and intermetallic compounds, thus hydrogen in the regenerated NaBH4(Hδ?) derives solely from NaBO2·2H2O (Hδ+). The introduction of Mg2Si increases the NaBH4regeneration yield to 86%, which is the highest regeneration yield reported for NaBH4until now. The reaction mechanism was also clarified for the first time.Highlights?NaBH4is regenerated via ball milling at room temperature.?The purified NaBH4exhibits fast hydrogen generation kinetics.?The NaBH4yield is affected by milling time and mole ratio of the reactants.?The regeneration mechanism of NaBH4was clarified.]]>
