Acool, rainy spring day in Michigan allowed me to catch up with current ACA Board Chairman Ken Geuns and talk about his love of Chi cattle and the operation he runs in partnership with Harlan Ritchie -Ventura Farm. Ventura Farm has been synonymous with Chi cattle since it began in the mid 1970s, first as a partnership between Harlan and Myron Danner, and then as a joint venture between Harlan and Ken. It was Ken's position as a graduate student at Michigan State University in the late 70s and his need as a farm boy to get out of the office that gave him the chance to get to know Harlan. "I moved to Michigan in 1976 to go to graduate school and at that time, Harlan was a very integral part of the animal science department," says Ken. "We had a lot of common interests in terms of cattle and being a farm kid, I was looking for an escape from the days spent in an office."
