The Bonomi quarry of Cuasso al Monte has hosted, the 16th of June, the eleventh edition of the traditional appointment dedicated to the Stones of the Alps. The extractive zone of the porfido rosso di Cuasso is located to north of Varese near Lugano lake, in a very interesting geologically area for the presence of many fossils, known all over the world going back to approximately 235 million years ago. Scientifically named as Granofiro, the Porfido di Cuasso is an ipoabissale magmatic rock unique for colour and physical/ mechanical characteristics. Its employment in floors and coverings characterizes the rich buildings and the urban furniture of the varesine, comasche and ticinesi pre-Alps. These meetings promoted from the Association Marmisti del-la Regione Lombardia in order to value the stones of the traditions, represent also the occasion to meet periodically who work natural stones, who make the equipments, the institutions and the academic world in the more adapted environment. The next appointment will be in Vicenza province in order to know the Grolla Marble.
