Residency is a crucial phase in professional and personal development that demands intellectual, physical, and mental perseverance. The tasks residents face are enormous: attaining knowledge in ever-expanding resources; applying it into complex, real-life situations; and forming and expressing their ideas clearly and professionally. In addition, residents are encouraged to combine clinical work with scientific research, a task demanding specialized skills, motivation, and time. Along the way, with luck, they will come across model senior physicians who will serve as their mentors and help shape their identity as doctors, as well as human beings.
