Additive manufacturing received a lot of hype a few years back when people thought it would be possible to print almost anything at home using a personal 3D desk printer. For personal use those overexpectations have now been scaled back, but for industrial applications additive manufacturing is revolutionising many fields such as that of metal components. Today it is not just hype but concrete reality.
