摘要

Susceptibility of apples to scald was decreasing as the date of harvest was progressing. Late harvested apples were much less susceptible to scald under either regular or ULO storage conditions. Apples stored under ULO conditions were of the best quality. Apples stored continously at 5 °C or alternatively at 5 °C and then 0 °C or vice versa, for periods of 20 days and 60 in total, did not develop any scald symptoms. Four days at 20 °C, before storage at 0 °C, resulted in reduced susceptibility of apples to scald by 50%, compared with the controls. GA_3 application before storage at 0 °C, had not any effect on scald development. However, sprays with GA_3 (1000 or 2000 ppm) and harvest of apples after 4 days resulted in very low percentage of scald (20 and 4% respectively, compared to the control- 93%). DPA(2000 ppm) applied as a dip after harvest or after a storage period of 30 days at 0°C reduced slightly the percent of apples with scald symptoms. Vit. E did not affect scald development.
