Cloud Peak Energy Inc, one of the largest US coal producers and the only pure-play Powder River basin (PRB) coal company reported a net income of $33.7M for the first half of 2012. It also generated cash from operations of $81.3M for the first six months of 2012.The company acquired the Youngs Creek project in June 2012. The property consists of 38,800 acres of surface land in the Northern Powder River basin (NPRB) to further Cloud Peak Energy's potential for increased Asian exports.
