Double-stranded RNA associated with fruit deformation of quince

摘要

Specific dsRNAs associated with infective fruit deformations in quince cv. Leskovacka were isolated and identified in leaves from naturally infected trees and from artifically inoculated quince plants. Four dsRNA bands were identified, with MW ranging from 6.6 to 4.1 X 106. MW of other 2 dsRNAs were 4.9 X 106 and 4.5 X 106. Seasonal changes in the amount of dsRNAs detected only in the summer and autumn were observed. Another 2 dsRNA profiles were detected, with 3 and 5 bands, which probably suggests the presence of different strains. The slowest-migrating dsRNA in all 3 profiles had the same MW. It is concluded that the predominant dsRNA is identical in size with dsRNA from pear vein yellows virus (PVYV)-infected pear, which suggests a close relationship between the 2 agents associated with quince fruit deformation and PVYV.
