摘要

The overall objective of this project is to develop and evaluate two complementary orchard technologies:Fruiting wall canopy architectures for stone fruit production; andHigh tunnel protective covering structures.These technologies are being examined to determine their potential for improving Michigan growers' ability to produce and market high value specialty stone fruit crops like apricots, nectarines, and hybrid plums on a sustainable basis. The canopy architectures evaluated to date include Tall Spindle Axe (TSA), Palmette (PLM), Upright Fruiting Offshoots (UFO), and a modified Super Slender Axe (SSA). The UFO and SSA canopies were imposed on all three-fruit species, while the TSA was imposed on nectarines and the PLM was imposed on apricots and plums.
