European markets for aluminium rolled products remained the subject of strong interest throughoutNovember, supported by healthy demand from the transport market, the building and construction sector(albeit coming up from a relatively low level), as well as from engineering markets. The German market wasreported to be exhibiting a healthy order intake with additional support offered by good purchasing activity inFrance, the UK and Italy. Despite a healthy demand outlook, market participants reported overstocking insome parts of Europe resulting from overcooked expectations of demand. While overstocking appears set toweigh on buying interest through December, most European mills nevertheless remain fully booked forJanuary and even into early February. Most market stakeholders surveyed by CRU maintain the view thatdemand momentum will carry through into February and through the remainder of Q1 2018.
