Field experiments were conducted during the winter seasons of 1998-99, 1999-2000 and 2000-01 at the semi-arid region of north Jordan to study the effects of sowing dates (14 January, 28 January and 12 February), sowing rates (50, 75 and 100 plants m-2), phosphorus levels (0, 17.5, 35.0 and 52.5 kg P/ha) and two methods of P application (banding and broadcast) on the growth and yield of faba beans cv. Minor. Sowing rate, sowing date, and rate of phosphorus had a significant effects on most of the measured traits and yield components. The method of phosphorus application had only a significant effect on seed yield and seed weight per plant. In general, high yields were obtained by early sowing (14 January), high sowing rate (100-plant m-2), and P application (52.5 kg P/ha) by drilling with the seed after cultivation (banded).
