This section Assessment of Nutritional & Metabolic Status encompasses the entire range of topics found in the Current Opinion in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolic Care, but with a focus on advances, innovations of the how? We ask in this section as to how we gather evidence and advance knowledge in all areas of nutrition research, basic, translational and clinical. We hopefully present and critically discuss the methodology. This year's section again includes both advances in sophisticated analytical methods, scientific validation of screening tools and body composition for clinical use, as well as critical appraisal of established anthropometric measures. As such, the section includes topics related to aging, cancer, chronic disease, malnutrition, obesity, lipid and protein metabolism and metabolic pathways in general.
