摘要

Validity and reliability of an instrument determines the score consistency in each item which means that the items used to measure the same construct in the instrument will produce similar score in different occasions. The propose of this study is to examine the validity and reliabilityof the construct of knowledge in the IPGM Lecturers’ Compentency instrument. The knowledge construct has four (4) dimensions; subject knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, assessment knowledge and supervisory knowledge. Rasch Measurement Model was utilized in order to examine the validityand reliability using Winsteps. The instrument was analyzed from the aspects of validity, reliability, item separation index, item polarity, principal component analysis and differential item functioning based on gender. The respondents in this study involved lecturers of Institut PendidikanGuru Malaysia (IPGM) in Malaysia. The respondents were chosen using Multistage Sampling. Based on the analysis, the instrument has reliability of 0.99 and item separation index of 9.14. It also has a positive PT-Measure Corr for all items and also raw variance explained by measure of 41.4%.This means that the items in the instrument can be used to measure the construct of knowledge and has fulfilled the pyschometric’s requirement to develop an instrument.
