摘要

The range of the Eurasian Green Woodpecker Picus viridis extends over most of the western Palearctic from Russia - 50 ° E - and south-west Iran to the Pyrenees in southern France. Northern Scandinavia and Finland are not inhabited. Four subspecies were commonly described in Europe (Winckler & Christie, 2002): P. v. in-nominatus confined in Iran, P. v. karelini in Italy, the Balkans, the Caucasus and southwestern Turkmenistan, P. v. viridis from Great Britain to Russia and southern France. The formerly Picus viridis sharpei (Cramp, 1985), located in the Iberian Peninsula and the extreme south of France, is now considered as a separate species, the Iberian Green Woodpecker, Picus sharpei (Perktas et al, 2011) (IOC 2017) (HBW2015).
