Knowledge of tracheobronchial anatomy is essential in anaesthesia for double-lumen tube placement in thoracic anaesthesia and fibreoptic bronchoscopy in critical care. Inadequate knowledge of bronchial anatomy leads to poor lung isolation for one lung ventilation [1] which increases patient morbidity and mortality [2]. Tracheobronchial anatomy is best learnt in vivo, but many anaesthetists do not have regular access to sessions involving fibreoptic bronchoscopy. ThoracicAnesthesia.com (http://www.thor acic-anesthesia.com) is a free, internet-based education and reference service for issues related to anaesthesia for thoracic surgery. Within the site is a high fidelity bronchoscopy simulator that is designed as an educational tool. The aim of this study "was to evaluate the effectiveness of this simulator in a cohort of anaesthetists not regularly covering sessions in thoracic surgery.
