South Korean state-owned utility Korea Midland Power (Komipo) is seeking 99,000t of biomass pellets made from waste wood, or a combination of waste wood and either almond shells or cashew nut shells for October-December delivery to its 4,000MW Boryeong thermal power plant. The utility invited bids last week for biomass solid recovered fuel (SRF) pellets for the plant, which consumes 900-1,300 t/d of the fuel. This translates to a requirement of around 27,000-39,000 t/month.
