operational consumption across the national Electricity market (nEm) is forecast to remain flat throughout the next 20 years, despite an expected population growth of 30 per cent. For the first time, the australian Energy market operator (aEmo) has explored trends in household electricity usage. The 2016 National Electricity Forecasting Report (nEFR), also provides operational consumption, and maximum and minimum demand forecasts for each nEm region from 2016-17 to 2035-36. While households today use more lighting, have larger televisions and use more web- connected devices, less electricity is being consumed from the grid – and this trend is expected to continue.
